The College of Social Work at The Ohio State University seeks a Senior Researcher to join our team. The Senior Researcher will report to the Director of the Center for Psychedelic Drug Research and Education (CPDRE) and collaborate in overseeing the day-to-day project coordination of conducting clinical trials and other research studies in the CPDRE. The CPDRE research program involves conducting experimental clinical intervention trials, pilot survey studies, secondary data analyses, and new projects related to psychedelic use in naturalistic settings.
The Senior Researcher supports the development and advancement of scientific operations and communications within the CPDRE. Scientific operational activities include developing grant proposals and preliminary data, advising and collaborating with other scientists on CPDRE projects, analyzing data, developing conclusions, and contributing to research findings. CPDRE communications include the development of scientific content that amplifies the CPDRE research platform and related programming for both an internal and external audience, identifying media outlets for CPDRE content and participation in relevant professional society annual meetings and workshops.
The Senior Researcher oversees student interns, research assistants, and other staff engaging in project activities (e.g., recruitment, clinical screening, assessment, coordination of team members, clinical intervention delivery/monitoring, and data collection).
Leads secondary projects using existing data, overseeing new projects to expand the breadth of research in the CPDRE. Job activities will also include administrative assistance in managing the operations of the CPDRE, engagement in facilitating continuing education workshops/trainings on topics related to expertise of faculty/staff of the CPDRE.
Required Qualifications:
Doctorate (Academic) in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field;
a PhD in a clinical discipline (e.g., social work, psychology, psychiatry) and must be licensed (or license eligible) to practice in their discipline in the state of Ohio. A minimum of 7 years of experience in research, clinical interventions, and/or supervising students/trainees is required. At least 1-2 years of experience in conducting clinical intervention research is required. Must demonstrate the ability to implement evidence-informed interventions, collaborate with a variety of partners, and write scientific articles. At least 2 years of pre-doc or post-doc experience in diagnostic assessment of common mental health disorders and their comorbidities. Documented ability to contribute to academic scholarship as evidenced by a history of scientific publications, grant submissions, and/or conference presentations.
Desired Qualifications:
At least 3 years of pre-doc or post-doc clinical experience working with clients diagnosed with trauma and stressor-based disorders such as PTSD and/or working with clients diagnosed with substance use disorders preferred.
